HOWE CAVERNS HOSTS 11TH CAVALCADE OF CARS
HOWES CAVE, N.Y. – Two hundred hot rods, classic cars, performance vehicles and trucks are ready to greet Dad, Granddad and the entire family when the 11th Cavalcade of Cars is underway from Noon to 4 p.m. on Father’s Day -- Sunday, June 19 -- on the Howe Caverns Estate.
Admission to the show is free, but those attending are asked to donate a canned food item to assist the food pantries in Schoharie County.
For those entering a car in the show, registration takes place from 8 a.m. to 12 Noon and there is an $8 fee. Registrants will receive a coupon for $2 off admission for a Traditional Tour of Howe Caverns on the day of the show.
The show features music by disc jockey K-Man, a coloring contest for the kids, a model car contest and more. A breakfast buffet will be available in the Howe Caverns Café from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., with an outdoor barbecue available from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Carl Jones of the Schoharie Valley Performance Street Machines -- a local car club that organizes the show -- said trophies will be awarded to the top 30 entries and one for Best of Show. This year’s car show is in memory of club member, Michael “Spanky” Warner of Sloansville, who passed away earlier this year.
In the event of threatening weather on June 19, participants and the general public should call Howe Caverns at 518-296-8900 or check the Howe Caverns Web site at www.howecaverns.com.
